Tanguy Nef and Daniel Yule had their best round of the season. In Wengen, the Genevan and the Valaisan signed the 3rd and 4th times respectively. The first route of this slalom, considered easy by the athletes, was dominated by the Norwegians Atle Lie McGrath (1st) and Henrik Kristoffersen (2nd). Second round to follow from 1:05 p.m. on RTS2.

Following on from his second effort in Adelboden, Tanguy Nef put out a superb round to find himself 0”53 behind Atle Lie McGrath and only 0”10 behind Henrik Kristoffersen. “I saw Manuel Feller and I changed skis, explained the 28-year-old Genevan at the RTS microphone. It was a good tactical choice and I managed to put some life into my skiing. It will be the same plan in the 2nd round.”

Fourteen hundredths behind Nef, Daniel Yule is also gaining strength. We know that the Valaisan is doing better since the Alta Badia slalom and a good 9th place. We have to go back to the Kitzbühel slalom last year to find evidence of such a good first round from the skier from Val Ferret.

“The snow is relatively slow and there is not much respite, admitted the Valaisan. The feeling wasn’t great, but we had to move and get to the fall line.”

It was clearly less good for the other representatives of Swiss-Ski. Loïc Meillard was far too tender to hope to reach the summits. The Valaisan of Neuchâtel origin was not able to manage the slope breaks as well as his opponents and here he is 24th at 1”75.
