The police received a call at 2 am last night regarding an explosion in Plataanstraat in Mechelen. “It must have been a significant explosion,” police said.
4 homes and at least 3 parked vehicles were damaged. 3 houses are seriously damaged, and 1 slightly damaged. It mainly involved broken windows.
“There was no fire and there were no casualties. 1 person was in shock from the event and was taken to hospital for a medical check-up,” said police spokesman Dirk Van de Sande.
-Local police Rivierenland, the federal police laboratory and DOVO arrived on the scene. A perimeter was first set up, but it has since been lifted again.
