According to the police, the motive for the crime is likely to be the impending divorce. The victim is said to be the new partner of the German’s estranged wife. According to a police spokesman, the 43-year-old woman and her two children are safe.

The murder weapon is believed to be a pistol. The alleged perpetrator is said to have fled in his car after the crime.
Alarm search in the border area
Several police vehicles were on the way from Linz towards Oberkappel on Saturday morning because an alarm search was underway to find the suspected shooter. Among other things, the police helicopter, service dogs and the Cobra task force were also involved. The German authorities were also immediately involved in the search.
About two hours after the fatal shots, the 44-year-old’s body was found lying dead in front of his car in a forest near his home. According to police, the man committed suicide.
