JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In a rare sight in Florida, snow plows were deployed across the state on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning to help clear the roads of snow and ice.
Drivers in the northern part of the state were encouraged to stay off the roads until the wintry conditions subsided.
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday said the state has 11 snow plows that would be used, mostly in the Panhandle which saw the most snowfall during the historic winter storm.

There were also 120 trucks with spray rigs to distribute de-icing chemicals on roadways, 25 spreaders to distribute de-icing chemicals on roadways and generators standing by for traffic signals as needed, DeSantis said.
-The snow was causing widespread issues in the state early Wednesday morning.
