Around thirty people were evacuated from the building and those around it, including 12 using large ladders set up by firefighters. Two people were transported to the hospital after being bothered by the smoke.
All the victims were welcomed at the Connemara pub, at the end of the street, which immediately opened its doors to help them. “It’s an “Airbnb” building,” says Juliette, who lives in a neighboring building, evacuated as a precaution. “There was a party in the top floor apartment. Around 6 a.m., we heard people shouting on the balcony. We smelled the smoke and saw the flames behind them. They asked us to break windows to get them out but the openings were too small. The firefighters arrived very quickly and managed to save them with ladders…”

According to the first elements of the investigation, the fire started in the common areas of the building for a reason that is still undetermined. Analyzes are underway to determine if structural elements have been affected, and if the damage justifies a danger order on the building. The street was closed by the police during the operations.
