The legendary World Cup races are taking place on the Lauberhorn in Wengen BE for the 95th time. Switzerland has several hot irons in the fire for Saturday’s downhill run.
The most important thing in brief
-
At 12.45 p.m. the best downhill skiers in the world will duel on the Lauberhorn.
-
Marco Odermatt starts as the defending champion and favorite.
-
Nau.ch keeps its ticker up to date.
11.30: Due to weather conditions, the start will be postponed by a quarter of an hour. The new start time is now 12.45 p.m. This is done from the original start.
11.20: The Swiss fans are of course hoping for their next home win today. Superstar Marco Odermatt also has something to make up for after finishing seventh yesterday.
11.00: The tour is complete and the athletes are heading back upstairs. The Swiss ski stars are brought back to the start here by helicopter. As of now there is nothing standing in the way of a departure start at 12.30 p.m.
10.30: According to Nau.ch information, drivers can now start the inspection and have half an hour to do so. The departure schedule should remain unchanged.
10.00: As feared, the visit was delayed due to strong winds. The Wixi lift that takes riders to the start cannot operate due to the gusts of wind. It is currently unclear when it can start. Basically, the wind should die down slowly over the course of the morning.
09.55: The strong wind continues to be a problem. Because some of the lifts cannot operate, arriving fans also face a delay. It is also still unclear whether the tour can start at 10 a.m. as planned.
09.00: Good morning from Lauberhorn! Today is the highlight of the Wengen weekend – the departure. However, the weather today isn’t quite as good as it was during the Super-G yesterday. Strong gusts of wind affect the conditions – a shortening of the descent cannot be ruled out.

The highlight of the program is the descent on Saturday. Can Marco Odermatt, who finished seventh in the Super-G below expectations, repeat his victory from last year?
The man from Nidwalden starts the race with start number 13, right after Super-G winner Franjo von Allmen. Justin Murisier has the nine, Marco Kohler comes with the 19.
The race starts at 12.30 p.m.
