Three games, three defeats: The new year is off to a disastrous start for BVB. Three insights into Eintracht Frankfurt against Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund has finally reached the mediocrity of the Bundesliga. Due to the 0:2 (0:1) on Friday evening, BVB can not only slip into the bottom half of the table, but is also a whopping eleven points behind Eintracht Frankfurt.

At the same time, it was the third defeat after the winter break for the team of coach Nuri Sahin, who will remain in office. This last happened in autumn 2017 – the next negative trend after the debacle in Kiel brought worrying statistics.

Although there was an increase in performance in Frankfurt – and admittedly it wasn’t difficult -, known problems were uncovered again and again. They once again underlined what sports director Sebastian Kehl obviously underestimated in the summer. At least two personal details gave faint hope for an early improvement. The one that has long since become a reality at SGE. Omar Marooush’s impending farewell doesn’t seem to change that.
