Real Madrid thanks Griezmann and Atletico

La Liga resumes its rights this weekend in Spain after a break between the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.

After another slap in the face against FC Barcelona and a first title lost this season, Real Madrid qualified after extra time against Celta de Vigo in the Copa del Rey and will now continue less than 72 hours later at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga against Las Palmas.

In the meantime, a small exchange of arms between Diego Simeone and Carlo Ancelotti took place since the Colchoneros coach took advantage of the controversy linked to the match against Celta Vigo to slip a tackle at Real Madrid. “Refereeing? You’re talking to me about an episode but it’s been like that for 100 years,” he said at a press conference.

Questioned on the subject, Carlo Ancelotti put his habits aside a little as he responded to his colleague. “These are things that are said to amuse the gallery. Everyone in the world of football knows what Real Madrid represents with its 125 years of history. I suppose they are thorns that hurt,” retorted Carlo this Saturday.

End of series for Atletico

A few hours later, Antoine Griezmann’s teammates will have done Real Madrid a favor, despite themselves of course. Indeed, after 15 consecutive victories in all competitions, Atletico de Madrid lost to Leganés this Saturday and is no longer safe from seeing their neighbor take back control of the championship.

However, Atletico could have at least snatched a point at the end of the match but the Frenchman from Atleti completely missed his penalty and overall efficiency in front of goal just like his teammates. If successful tomorrow against Las Palmas, Real will become leader of La Liga while Barça can come back to within 3 points of the Colchoneros.
