Succession of Tedesco is in full swing, but Thierry Henry heard nothing from the Football Association: “There has been no contact whatsoever”

Thierry Henry was at the time in the picture to succeed Roberto Martinez as Belgian national coach, but now that his successor Domenico Tedesco is on the way, the Belgian Association has not (yet) contacted the free former assistant national coach.

Thierry Henry resigned last summer for personal reasons from the French Football Association, where he was national coach of the promises. So Henry is currently free and open to offers, but he certainly didn’t hear anything from Vincent Mannaert. While the new technical director was far advanced last month with Sérgio Conceiçao (before he signed with AC Milan) and would like to find a successor for Tedesco at the end of this month.

“If I were on a list of the Belgian association, it would not have reached me yet,” Henry himself said in the RMC podcast Rothen s’enflamme. “There has been no contact with the Belgian Football Association. Would I prefer to work for a club or a country? I’m open to everything.”

After Martinez’s departure, Romelu Lukaku openly suggested Thierry Henry as his successor. Would players he worked with as Martinez’s assistant put him forward again?

“I don’t know what is happening at the moment, but it is true that after the departure of the coach – I always keep saying coach to Roberto Martinez – there were indeed voices in the dressing room that advocated for me. It’s always nice when you notice that certain people have appreciated your work.”
