On Tuesday morning, shortly after 8:30 a.m., there was an accident with a postal bus in Rehetobel. The post bus stopped at the Unterrechstein stop near the spa to let people off.
The driver noticed a technical problem and wanted to fix it. The vehicle started moving independently and started rolling. The driver was not in the vehicle when it rolled off.
He jumped in while driving, but was unable to stop the postal bus despite applying emergency braking. The double-decker bus rolled down the slope and tipped onto its right side.
There were a total of seven passengers in the post bus. Three of them were moderately injured and another person suffered minor injuries. Three people were able to get off the bus uninjured. The driver was uninjured but is currently being looked after by a care team.
The Heiden – Kaien road had to be closed for around seven hours. A diversion was set up by the fire department. The Heiden-Grub-Eggersriet-Wolfhalden Regiwehr was deployed with around 40 members.
