Sailing: the 28th edition of the Mondial du Vent is announced with something new in Leucate-La Franqui

The Mondial du Vent, a legendary event on the international sliding scene, returns for its 28th^e edition from April 16 to 21, 2025 in Leucate-La Franqui.

This major event will bring together the world's elite in board sports, with around a hundred international athletes expected in the disciplines of wingfoil, windsurf and – new – pump foil.

Since 2021, Leucate has become a major stop on the GWA Wingfoil World Cup circuit, the only one organized in France. Two spectacular disciplines will be on the menu: free fly-slalom and surf-freestyle.

The best international athletes – including reigning world champions Francesco Cappuzzo (ITA), Christopher MacDonald (USA) and Nia Suardiaz (ESP) – are expected in the Audoise sea for this event which has become a must on the calendar. The French, who also shine on the international scene, will be keen to do well in front of their public, they who regularly monopolize the podiums and today count in the top 10 in the world: Julien Rattotti, Bastien Escofet, Oscar Leclair, Axel Gérard, Malo Guénolé, Noé Cuyala… or even Orane Ceris and Kylie Belloeuvre among the women. These young talents, mostly aged 15 to 25, promise spectacular performances.

New: the French stage of the very first SFT Pump Foil World Cup

Pump foil, a recent and spectacular discipline, will make its debut in international competition during the Mondial du Vent, always a pioneer in new sports. Athletes will compete in endurance, balance and technical finesse, propelling their foil-mounted board solely through their body movements. This exciting competition is part of the brand new SFT Pump Foil World Tour, with stops planned in Germany, the United States and Abu Dhabi.
