Foundation and first steps
Ourense CF was founded in 1977 under the name Puente Club de Fútbol by Plácido Díaz Fernández. Since its inception, the club showed notable progression, quickly rising through the Galician regional categories. In 1996, it changed its name to Ponte Ourense Club de Fútbol, and in 2014 it adopted its current name after the disappearance of the historic CD Ourense.
Promotions and relegations
Throughout its history, Ourense CF has experienced various promotions and relegations. In the 1993-1994 season, they managed to advance to the Third Division, consolidating themselves as one of the outstanding teams in the province. After several years in regional categories, in the 2021-2022 season it reached a significant milestone by being promoted to the Second Federation, a national competition. Later, in the 2023-2024 season, the club was crowned champion of Group I of the Second Federation, ensuring its promotion to the First Federation for the first time in its history.
Notable sporting achievements
Among the most notable achievements of Ourense CF are:

- 1981/82 season: Champion of the Second Regional League in the senior category.
- 1991/92 season: Once again champion of the Second Regional League in the senior category.
Stadium and fans
Ourense CF plays its home games at the O Couto Stadium, with capacity for 5,659 spectators. This publicly owned stadium has become a fortress for the team, especially after the disappearance of CD Ourense, when Ourense CF began to use these facilities.
Current events and cupbearer challenge
This season, Ourense CF competes in the Primera Federación, the third category of Spanish football. Their participation in the Copa del Rey has been outstanding, eliminating teams from higher categories and earning the right to face Valencia CF in the round of 16.
