Weather for Wednesday January 15: return of gray weather, risk of ice

Highlights

– gray weather sets in over the northern two thirds

– the frost is less marked under the gray weather of the north

– the sky remains clear from the Atlantic arc towards the central massif and the south-east with frost

Matin

Change of atmosphere in the north-eastern half of the country with gray and foggy weather from the morning. This low ceiling will persist all day. Be careful, drizzles occur at the end of the night from the Ardennes to the Lorraine plateaus and the Vosges: falling on frozen ground, these small drizzles risk causing ice in these areas: be very careful on the road.

In Hauts-de- and the basin, gray weather will be present but temperatures will be slightly positive: the risk of ice is therefore limited. However, the gray and cold weather with a few drizzles will continue all day.

From the Atlantic to the southwest, Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and the southeast, the sky is still clear with still marked cold and severe frosts. The wind around the Mediterranean maintains a cold feeling.

Minimum temperatures are increasing in the northern half (-3° to +5°C), stationary in the southern half (-8°C to +5°C).

Afternoon

The weather remains gray, dark and cold over the northern two thirds, up to the northern plains of Auvergne. The reliefs emerge in the sun. Clearances continue from the Atlantic arc to the southwest, but clouds could arrive in Poitou-Charentes. The weather is fine from to the south-eastern quarter.

Maximum temperatures are stationary and low: 2 to 3°C over the northern two thirds, 6 to 10°C over the Atlantic arc, 11 to 14°C around the Mediterranean.

Soirée

The weather remains overcast over the northeast two-thirds with rare drizzle, but it does not freeze. In the southern third, with clear skies, temperatures are dropping quickly in preparation for another night of frost.

Further trend

The gray and foggy weather, still cold, will persist for several days in the northern half while the southern third maintains clear weather with frosty nights. THE week-end should remain in this trend.
