“Most of the time was great”: Maria Höfl-Riesch is divorced

It became known a few months ago that ex-ski racer Maria Höfl-Riesch and manager Marcus Höfl are no longer a couple. The divorce is now finalized. Even at this moment, the two of them present themselves more harmoniously than many other couples.

Maria Höfl-Riesch and Marcus Höfl have been a couple for 15 years. They have been married for 13 years. If a separation occurs after such a long time, a proper War of the Roses seems to be almost inevitable. However, this is not the case for the 40-year-old ski legend and the sports manager, who is ten years older than him. They are said to have maintained an extremely friendly relationship with each other even on the day of the divorce.

This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper. Accordingly, the two appeared before the Kitzbühel district court last Thursday to draw a line under their time together as married couples in just 30 minutes. Beforehand, they are said to have eaten together in a restaurant and then had coffee together. It is said that they shared a lawyer for the divorce. Even the judge is said to have said that he had rarely experienced such a peaceful divorce.

“On the one hand, the end of our marriage is of course not nice. On the other hand, we both have a lot of gratitude for 15 wonderful years together. Most of it was great,” Marcus Höfl is quoted by the “Bild” newspaper. The two, whose marriage remained childless, are happy to part harmoniously and will remain friends and professionally connected.

“The Great Love”

The couple is said to have separated spatially before Christmas. While Maria Höfl-Riesch remains in the apartment he previously shared, he has moved into a house that he built several years ago, writes the “Bild” newspaper.

Maria Höfl-Riesch had already made the separation public in August. “After careful consideration and with heavy hearts, we have decided to go our separate ways privately in the future. Unfortunately, our lives have developed too much in different directions,” she explained on social networks at the time.

On the occasion of her 40th birthday on November 24th, the three-time Olympic champion also commented on the end of love in an interview with the magazine “Gala”. This “was and is painful,” she explained. “But I’m very happy that we’re on good terms and we can turn our relationship into a friendship,” she added.

“The 40 marks a new decade and for me as a single a new life situation,” Maria Höfl-Riesch continued. She doubts that she will find a partner like her ex-husband again: “I had great love with him.” Nevertheless, she ruled out that there could be a love comeback with Marcus Höfl: “We didn’t throw our love away carelessly, we fought for it. The last two years were no longer as they should be.”
