The famous photographer Oliviero Toscani died this morning in Cecina hospital (Livorno) where he had been hospitalized for a few days due to worsening health conditions. Toscani suffered from amyloidosis, a group of rare diseases characterized by the abnormal accumulation of proteins in tissues, which can cause organ damage and lead to serious consequences, including death. It is an incurable pathology, the diagnosis of which was made public by the photographer last August. There are different types and in Italy it affects around 800 people a year.
