The Loire is placed by Météo France on yellow snow-ice alert this Friday, January 10. Puy-de-Dôme and overall the Massif Central are also affected by this vigilance.
In the Loire department, temperatures will fall. They will be between 0°C in the morning and 8°C in the afternoon.
Snowfall early in the morning
According to Météo Loire, “there are still some uncertainties for the snow episode tomorrow morning even if the forecast is starting to stabilize”.
However, our department will find itself in the middle of an air mass conflict between the warm air rising from the South-West and the cold air still present in the North-East, as evidenced by the ISO 0° on the map below. In this context, forecasting remains very delicate.
Snowfall could occur early in the morning from 400 meters above sea level. “Standing on the ground would a priori be difficult,” notes Météo Loire.
On the Loire reliefs, 1 to 5 cm is possible above 800 m.
Freezing rain
The mild weather will arrive quickly at the end of the morning, with a risk of freezing rain. The rain will then take over at all altitudes, early in the afternoon.
For this weekend, Saturday will see the return of calm and dry weather, with the last few flakes in small quantities in the Alps, reports Météo France. The sun will shine in the north, in a winter atmosphere.
Sunday will be cold, calm and sunny.
