Helping a million Lebanese
In October, an initial appeal for $426 million was launched to help people displaced by Israeli strikes in Lebanon, an appeal which raised around $250 million, according to the UN.
Since then, “while the cessation of hostilities offers hope, more than 125,000 people are still displaced, and hundreds of thousands more face immense challenges in rebuilding their lives,” Imran Riza commented in a statement, UN humanitarian coordinator in Lebanon. Under these conditions, an additional $371.4 million is needed “to support efforts to save lives and prevent the deterioration of an already terrible situation”, he added.
