The SNCF promises a controlled increase in its prices for the year 2025, with tickets more expensive by 1.5% on average. But what is it in reality? France Télévisions investigated.
TGV fares will increase again, but by how much? The passengers interviewed are pessimistic. Because according to the SNCF, prices should only rise by 1.5% on average in 2025. But in reality, it is much more: “It went to 150 and now it’s 200, it’s unbearable”annoys a woman at Lyon station. Used to traveling first class, she will have to make do with second class tickets.
Because, according to our findings, if the first prices do not change, the highest prices soar. For a Paris-Bordeaux in second for example, the ceiling price is 127 euros, an increase of 3.25% in one year, and 14.51% in five years. For a trip to Nice, this time in first gear, it costs 238 euros, or more than 4% increase in one year, and 25% in five years.
The SNCF undertakes to increase its highest prices, recalling that the TGV is no longer financed by the State: “If we want to cover our costs, our investments, knowing that we have no subsidy, it is the maximum prices that increase”explains Alain Krakovitch, director of TGV-Intercités.
