Loury Lag replaces Mike Horn at the presentation of “The Island, l'île du penal colony”.
TELEVISION – Bad luck. Six years after its last season, The Island makes its big return this Tuesday, January 7 on M6. The adventure show presents a new format and a new cast made up of ten new celebrities. But after only a few minutes of appearance in the first episode, sports journalist Carine Galli was forced to abandon the adventure, even before leaving for the island.
Like her nine other comrades, the journalist attended the survival training provided by Loury Lag – the adventurer and presenter who replaces Mike Horn this season – 48 hours before the adventure. It was a little after this express training that the presenter was injured. The day before leaving for the island, Carine Galli simply tripped over a “half walk” from the hotel where the candidates were staying. Result: a triple fracture of the ankle. When announcing her abandonment by medical decision, she could not hold back her tears at having to leave this adventure which was close to her heart.
“I would like to take my revenge on the island”, she told us aside during the press conference at which HuffPost had attended last December 3.
A shrunken cast but no less explosive
The candidates of The Island there are only nine left to embark on the adventure on the island of Ko Tarutao, off the coast of Malaysia. We find the actors Terence Telle and Patrick Puydebat, the Miss France 2012, Delphine Wespiser, and 1987 Nathalie Marquay-Pernaut, the athletes Sidney Govou, Pierre-Ambroise Bosse and Lucie Bertaud, the buyer ofDeal Done Julien Cohen, as well as the influencer Daniela Capone.
In addition to the ten candidates, three camera operators and a doctor participate in the show under the same conditions. All participants can also film themselves using small cameras and a medical team also remains close to the island, just in case. A necessary precaution as shown by images revealed on social networks by the channel showing Patrick Puydebat lying on the sand, injured after a sting from a stingray.

In this season themed around homelessness, the remaining participants will have to help each other to survive the 10-day journey to the extraction point. But despite this reduced number, the first tensions will quickly be felt in the small group of survivors, as viewers will be able to see in this first episode.
