Colin Farrell recalls how The Penguin prosthetics ‘tore up’ his face

The 82nd Golden Globes are here and while walking the red carpet, nominee for The Penguin, Colin Farrell, stopped to chat with Marc Malkin and Salma Hayek.

Colin won Best Lead Actor in the Miniseries on the night, beating fellow Irishman Andrew Scott who was nominated for his work on the Netflix miniseries Ripley.

As they chatted, the Dubliner mentioned that Salma was going to be working on something soon that required prosthetics, and when she revealed she couldn’t/shouldn’t talk about it, the Variety host quickly turned the attention back to Farrell’s work on the hit DC-series.

Malkin asked him what tips Farrell was giving Hayek, and he replied: ‘[The first couple of weeks]yeah the skin got a bit torn up, and then I got… maybe I got one facial a week [after that].’

He then turned to Salma and added: ‘Do you know what the thing is? Be cautious about taking it off.

‘If at the end of the day, because you want to be in a rush and you want to get out of there, take your time. Tell them to slow down.

‘I would be ripping pieces off and telling them to hurry along, but just get them to take their time when they’re taking the prosthetics off.’

Malkin also made a joke about how if the pair wanted to work together again, Colin should ask Matt Reeves to get her a part in The Batman 2, to which he quickly said that he hasn’t a clue what’s going on with it.

However, after being reluctant to do the whole transformation into Oz Cobb again, it was announced that Colin would be returning as The Penguin in the upcoming sequel.

He mentioned the prosthetics work in his acceptance speech, joking that it would be ‘prosthetics from here on out’ now that he’s won the Golden Globe.

He said: ‘You all know, it takes a village, whether it’s on the small screen or the big screen. I’m here on the backs of the talents of so many people through the years. Maybe this one more than others because of Mike Marino, who designed the makeup with his extraordinary makeup team.

‘All it took was three hours in the chair in the morning. I drank black coffee, listened to 80s music, and I became a canvas for that team’s brilliance.’
