Acclaimed actor Jodie Foster continues to draw acclaim with her legendary career. She has now earned a fifth Golden Globe Award, this time for her performance in the fourth season of True Detective on HBO and Max.

At the Golden Globes, Foster won a new award for the Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film category based on her role as Chief Liz Danvers in True Detective: Night Country. The other nominees were Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft in Apple +’s DISCLAIMER*; Cristin Milioti as Sofia Gigante in HBO and Max’s The Penguin; Sofia Vergara as Griselda Blanco on Netflix's Griselda; Naomi Watts as Babe Paley in FX and Hulu’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans; and Kate Winslet as Chancellor Elena Vernham for HBO and Max’s The Regime.

Foster has been nominated at the Golden Globes on a plethora of previous occasions, dating back to her first two nominations in 1977 for her roles in the movies Freaky Friday and Taxi Driver. She won Golden Globes in 1989, 1992, and 2021, respectively with her roles in The Accused, The Silence of the Lambsand The Mauritanian. In 2013, she was given the honorary Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes. With her latest win for True Detective: Night CountryFoster has picked up her first Golden Globe for a performance in a TV series with her other wins coming from feature film roles.
