On Sunday January 5 at 8:55 p.m., Arte broadcasts Out of reach. A film like no other, and that, for a very special reason!

It's an understatement to say that Steven Soderbergh surprised his world in 1998. A distinguished director, he revealed the delicious Out of reach in theaters around the world, in the company of superstars George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez, but also Ving Rhames, Steve Zahn, Don Cheadle, Dennis Farina, and Albert Brooks. Jackson and Michael Keaton… The actor behind the famous Ray Nicolette in both films! But why then? Quite simply because the two productions are adaptations of novels by Elmore Leonard, Punch Creolebecame Jackie Brownet the eponym Out of reachSO. FBI agent, Nicolette is there every time, enough to push Tarantino and Soderbergh to share the same character and the same interpreter, a few months apart. Friends, they got along and Tarantino managed to make “bend” Miramax Studios for “passer” the actor at Universal. Michael Keaton, convinced by the scenario of Out of reach filmed for Steven Soderbergh on one condition: keep exactly the same look. Obviously, the filmmaker will not have refused, making his film a sort of hidden sequel to that of his colleague…
