Temperatures are rising. This Sunday, January 5, orange snow and ice vigilance was lifted in all the departments concerned, indicates Météo-France.
“A disturbance associated with a mild air mass is sweeping across the entire country, in a southwest/northeast direction. This mild air is putting an end to the snow and freezing rain that required monitoring,” reports Météo-France. “Freezing rains have evacuated the northeast of the country.”
More than 13°C in less than 24 hours in Paris
According to the public establishment, “a layer of snow of 1 to 2 cm is still present from northern Lorraine to Bas-Rhin”.
A spectacular warm spell has been observed in the region. In Paris, temperatures increased by 13°C in 24 hours. It was -2°C on Saturday morning in the capital. This Sunday morning, it is 11°C.

Several accidents
On Saturday January 4, 30 departments were placed on orange alert due to snowfall and freezing rain forecast in the north of the country. At 10 p.m., 22 departments were still affected by vigilance.
The freezing rains, which affected the northern half and east of the country, led to several accidents on the A6, the A31 and the A3, disrupting traffic. A 20-year-old young man died on the A6 in Burgundy, in an accident probably due to this disruption.
