With great serenity, Luis Enrique spoke before the Champions Trophy meeting between Monaco and PSG this Sunday.
“I am very calm” for the second part of the season for Paris SG, assured his coach Luis Enrique on Saturday on the eve of the Champions Trophy against Monaco in Doha (5:30 p.m.), and before important deadlines in the Champions League in January.
“I am very calm, I like what I see, I see improvements”he declared. “I hope that the start of the second half of the season will be good, that we will succeed in delivering the necessary performances”. “I have no doubt that PSG, with or without me, will have several Champions League titles over the next decade”even said the Spanish technician.
Concerning his squad against Monaco, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, struck in the face by a foot from Wilfried Singo during the December 18 match against Monaco in Ligue 1 (4-2 victory), is able to start on Sunday, like the two other goalkeepers.
Brazilian captain Marquinhos, for his part, estimated that PSG had, before the winter break, “a string of good performances and above all victories which give a good atmosphere and allow us to arrive in a good dynamic”. “We played against Monaco not long ago, but it’s going to be a different story”he estimated.
“The decisive moments in the European Cup, in the championship are ahead of us, and it is up to us as soon as we return from vacation to be competitive, to have the best possible team”développé Marquinhos. “In January we have seven matches to play, very important, it starts tomorrow, a great victory would give us motivation and courage to face the big confrontations in the second half of the season”he concluded.
PSG will notably face Manchester City on January 22 and Stuttgart on January 29 to try to get out of the 25th qualifying place in the Champions League.
