Bhopal: Arera Club Bhopal is hosting ITF international tennis tournament at Arera Club from Jan 6, featuring world-class competition. The tournament offers prize money of US $30,000 and will attract top-ranking tennis players from different countries.
Participants in the main draw will earn valuable points that contribute to their international tennis rankings. “The tournament’s highest-ranked competitor is French player Mathys Erhard, currently ranked 290th globally. Notable Davis Cup players — Ramkumar Ramanathan and Vishnu Vardhan — are also set to compete,” said tournament director M S Kukreja.
The tournament structure includes qualifying rounds followed by the main draw matches. Players will compete in both singles and doubles, providing spectators with diverse tennis action throughout the event. The matches will be played on the club’s well-maintained hard courts, which meet international standards.
“This prestigious event aims to inspire Bhopal’s youth to engage in sports, particularly tennis, which ranks among the world’s most followed sports,” said treasurer Ashish Pande.
The tournament committee has decided to offer free entry to all sports enthusiasts wishing to witness this international competition. The organising committee has made comprehensive arrangements for players and spectators. The club has enhanced its facilities, including player lounges, medical support, and refreshment areas. Professional umpires and line judges will officiate the matches to ensure fair play.
This tournament marks a significant step in establishing Bhopal as a prominent tennis destination in India. The free entry policy is expected to draw large crowds, particularly during weekend matches.
