Renew your wardrobe or your household appliances, exchange an unwelcome Christmas gift, track down discounts to finally buy that product you've been eyeing. Everyone has their reasons for waiting for the sales, and here they have finally arrived.
In 2025, in Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes, winter sales begin Wednesday January 8 at 8 a.m. and will end on mardi 4 FEBRUARY in the evening. A month, therefore, to rush to the store and, perhaps, do some crazy things.
A timetable compliant with the law
The sales dates are set in accordance with article L. 310-3 of the commercial code and the decree of May 27, 2019. In other words, they are what they are, and not otherwise.
A few departments are exceptions, with sales that start and end a little earlier or a little later. In any case, all stores must comply with what is set. This applies to “physical” stores as well as online sellers and remote traders.
As always, four markdowns are scheduled from Wednesday to Wednesday: the first begins on January 8. The second, the 15th. The third, the 22nd. Finally, the last, the 29th.
Buyer Protection
Finally, you don't like the purchase? Does it have a defect that you didn't see initially? Consumers, you benefit from certain rights.
The law is uncompromising on several points:
- A sale product has the same guarantees as a non-sale product “in matters of non-apparent manufacturing defects, lack of conformity or after-sales service than any other item”.
- A sale product can therefore be refunded or replaced if it presents a “hidden defect”that is to say a defect which could not have been seen at the time of purchase.
- Same thing for products presenting a “lack of conformity”that is to say which do not allow it to be used as expected. The seller is required to repair, replace or reimburse the goods up to two years after purchase.
Otherwise, the classic return rules apply.
