Netflix is releasing a very special animated film online today, which marks the return to our screens of a brilliant inventor and his intelligent dog.
A year after reviving Chicken Run, Netflix is today releasing Wallace and Gromit, The Palm of Vengeance, the latest great animated project from the Aardman studio. This brand new stop-motion film is directed by none other than Nick Park – creator of the original series, whose work was awarded an Oscar.
In this new opus, which follows The Mystery of the Were-Rabbit released 20 years ago, Gromit worries that Wallace has become too dependent on his inventions, after his creation of an intelligent gnome…
A traumatized generation but…
The release of this new adventure is an opportunity for a whole new generation to meet this eccentric inventor who is a fan of crackers and his funny dog. But also for the little ones to discover a very different animation technique: that of stop-motion (the scenes are filmed frame by frame, which requires a monumental filming time) and plasticine animation.
It is a non-drying modeling clay that allows its director and teams to easily modify the settings and move the characters endlessly.
Around twenty years ago, when Aardman studios specialized in this animation technique, no one could have imagined that it would give rise to a very specific phobia among certain spectators: lutumotophobia!
This is playdough fear in action and stop-motion. For some, this translates into simple disgust, for others, it even goes as far as vomiting!
This did not prevent Wallace and Gromit from being extremely popular and there is no doubt that this new part, which promises to be rich in adventures and adventures, will once again meet its audience on Netflix.
