Gasperini loses it! Dumfries double, Carnesecchi not enough

The Goddess hands over to Inzaghi’s team with bizarre formation choices. The man of the match is the Dutch winger whose goals earned Inzaghi’s team the semi-final.

Taboos exist for a reason and dispelling them is always complicated. Gian Piero Gasperini also knows this well and hasInter his bête noire. This time, however, the Grugliasco coach takes his cue in the defeat which costs theAtalanta elimination in the Italian Super Cup. The questionable formation choices benefit Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri with a Dumfries in the bomber version he scored a brace. The owners of the Goddess come in and try to put things right but it’s too late.

The choices of Inzaghi and Gasperini

The first of the two semi-finals of the Italian Super Cup pits the Italian champions against the winners of the last Europa League. Inter presents itself at its best, taking into account the absences of Acerbi and Pavard in defence. More surprising, however, are Atalanta’s choices, placing Scalvini in midfield and in the lineup Samardzic e Brescianini attacking midfielders behind the false new Zaniolo. Gasp also has to fight with statistics: only one success for the Dea in the last 17 matches against the Nerazzurri from Milan.

Carnesecchi and errors in front of goal: first half without goals

More Inter than Atalanta in the first half of the game. Inzaghi’s team faces an excellent player Meatballs but they must also regret the lack of killer instinct on the part of their attackers. As far as the Goddess is concerned, the most delicious opportunity falls on the head of Scalvini who delivers it completely alone into the hands of Sommer. Overall the pace is not particularly high, although the race still flows in a pleasant way.

Dumfries show, the VAR shuts down the reaction of the Orobics

Inzaghi replaces Thuram with Taremi. The advantage came immediately after the start of the second half with the bicycle kick Dumfries who emerges the winner from a melee in the area. At that point Gasperini inserts 90 shots in an attempt to restart the match. At the restart it was Inter who found the second goal again with the Dutch side. Ederson tries to get Atalanta back on track but his goal is disallowed by VAR for offside. Thus Inter earned the semi-final and the Bergamo players licked their wounds, perhaps regretting not having tried right away with the starting 11.

Inter’s report cards

  • Sommer 6,5 He makes his first saves towards the end and secures the result.
  • Bisseck 6 Not always very reliable with the ball at his feet, he still does his job.
  • De Vrij 6 He governs the department very well, risking as little as possible.
  • Sticks 6 An unfortunate header gives Atalanta a great opportunity. Luckily for him, wasted. Then he comes out in particular by exploiting the axis with Dimarco. (From 67′ Charles Augustus 6 Well done to block Ederson’s goal which was later disallowed).
  • Dumfries 8 In the first half he had the best opportunity to score but stopped at the best moment. In the second half, however, he didn’t forgive, even scoring with an overhead kick and completing the job with a right-footed shot that earned him a double.
  • Stretcher 6 Sufficiency is for the usual useful work at a mid-court intensity level. Today, however, he lacks a bit in quality in his plays. (From 81′ Frattesi of)
  • Calhanoglu 6 If Inter have the ball in their hands, they owe it to the Turk’s abilities. (From 67′ Aslan 6 Half an hour of battle).
  • Mkhitaryan 6,5 He immediately had a good opportunity at the start of the match, then he was good both between the lines and in re-attacking.
  • Dimarco 6 Carnesecchi denies him the goal even though he too may have some regrets about the way he kicked. (From 76′ Darmian of)
  • Lautaro Martinez 5.5 It’s not easy to give him a grade. Because he does some good things, of course, but then he falters in front of goal, showing a terrible feeling for goals.
  • Thuram 6 Full sufficiency but no more. When the ball and chain goes off it’s the usual fuse: however, it doesn’t light up as it should. (From 46′ Taremi 6 Presence is enough to create difficulties for the Orobics.)

Atalanta’s report cards

  • Carnesecchi 7 Scoring him is no easy feat. He saves, dives and repairs, showing remarkable reflexes. He can do nothing about the jewels of Dumfries.
  • Kossounou 6 Arruffone however aggressive and willing to close, he also tries at 2-0 in Dumfries.. (From 68′ Lecture 6 He brings personality to it and that’s a good thing even if he loses a bloody ball. He promptly redeems himself with a super save on Lautaro launched into the net).
  • He 5 Attempting to get ahead of Lautaro is always risky: one time it goes badly for him and the Bull nearly mocks him. Due to his characteristics he prefers to mark more physical attackers. He also arrives late on the second goal.
  • Kolasinac 6 He starts off well and then lets himself be overwhelmed by the events of the match without being able to remedy it.
  • Zappacosta 6 Careful match, without any particular blows also because Dimarco is on the opposite front.
  • De Roon 5.5 What a struggle for the Dutchman today too, against a master midfield like that of Inter.
  • Scalvini 5 From defender to midfielder ending up as a winger. However, tasks and measures are different and he is not always able to manage them in the best possible way. (From 62′ Djimsiti 6 He arrives to give a little more solidity to the defensive department).
  • Ruggeri 6 Valuable although risky cover on Dumfries launched into the net. Today he defends more than attacks. (From 56′ Ederson 6.5 Increase the specific weight of the team even if it is too late to put things right.)
  • Samardzic 5 The man called to give quality. Gasp’s request was not accepted in this circumstance. (From 56′ De Ketelaere 5.5 Does not enter the game).
  • Brescianini 6 He moves around a lot looking for a position which he never finds. In the first half he had the merit of putting together a couple of concrete initiatives to strike. He doesn’t give up even at the end and for this he should be rewarded.
  • Zaniolo 5 Center forward without points of reference. He tries to open spaces for his teammates, but struggles to break through the Inter rearguard. (From 56′ Lookman 6 Just enough time to see a couple of accelerations: but why was he on the bench?).
