Very first Ligue 1 match in 2025, the duel between Nice and Rennes (3-2) kept all its promises. Rich in goals, the meeting was also marked by the debut of Seko Fofana with the Breton club.
Franck Haise gets the better of Seko Fofana
By attending the Nice – Rennes match, we understand better why Arnaud Pouille tries to bring Brice Samba to Brittany. In line with a fairly average first part of the season, Steve Mandanda made another mistake by offering the second Nice goal to Sofiane Diop on a plate (2-1, 34′). Before that, Evann Guessand opened the scoring… following a poor restart from the former international goalkeeper (1-0, 12′). Author of his seventh goal of the season, Arnaud Kalimuendo equalized a quarter of an hour later (1-1, 27').
Just before half-time, Gaëtan Laborde made the break (3-1, 45'+5) while still taking advantage of the defensive generosity of his former club. And if Adrien Truffert quickly reduced the gap upon returning from the locker room (3-2, 49′), the score did not change until the final whistle. Entered in the 64th minute of play, Fofana School – who had to resign from his position on the board of directors of RC Lens – failed to impact the meeting despite a lot of activity in the heart of the game. The reunion between former Lensois therefore smiled on Franck Haise, who is temporarily three points off the podium.
