AS Saint-Etienne took three very important points against Stade de Reims. Trailing, the Greens were able to turn the tide thanks in large part to an excellent Lucas Stassin!
Last December 13, Lucas Stassin finally scored his very first goal in Ligue 1 since his arrival at Saint-Etienne last summer. A useless goal, since the Greens lost once again against Toulouse, but which seems to have indeed broken the Indian sign for the Belgian U21 international.
Indeed, after scoring for the last of 2024, Stassin has now done it again for the first of 2025. And this time, ASSE won. However, against Stade de Reims, the Stéphanois initially found themselves trailing at the break on a goal from Nakamura.
But returning from the locker room, Augustine Boakye made it 1-1 in the 50th, before scoring a double a few minutes later… on a nice serve from Lucas Stassin (2-1, 57th). Better yet: the Belgian himself would make it 3-1 with a magnificent sequence. Short hook, ball dived at lightning speed: what a goal!
With this goal-assist combo, Stassin finally has the benchmark match he has been looking for since October and two assists delivered in the same match – but again, with a defeat at the end. This time, he could let his joy burst forth after the match.
“We went for it, this victory, even when we were behind. Frankly, it’s nice to have a victory like that,” declared Lucas Stassin, all smiles, on the AS Saint-Etienne channels after the match. With these three points, the Greens leave the red zone.
