It was reported that Ferdi Tayfur, one of the legendary names of arabesque music, died in Antalya, where he had been receiving treatment for a while.

Tayfur, who was born in Adana’s Hürriyet District in 1945, came to Istanbul from Adana in the early years of his music career and released two 45 records that did not receive the expected attention. During this period, Tayfur returned to his hometown and took over the family farm.
The famous artist, who made his breakthrough in 1973 with the single titled “Stop Listen My Love / Wild Flowers”, produced on behalf of Görsev Plak, made his name known a year later with the single titled “Yüreğimde Yara Var / Tell Me the Truth”.
The artist, whose breakthrough came with the song “Çeşme”, was watched by 12 million people in his first movie with the same name, released in 1976.
His album Prangalar, released in 1992, was one of Turkey’s best-selling albums with 5 million copies.
Tayfur, who later appeared in numerous films and brought his songs to millions, had been struggling with serious health problems for a while. The artist, who was receiving dialysis treatment, had his son’s kidney transplanted in Antalya in 2020. It is known that the artist had undergone surgery before and had a stent inserted into his brain vessel.
When Tayfur finally fell ill at his home in Marmaris district of Muğla on December 15, he was first taken by ambulance to a private hospital in the district and then to another private health institution in Muğla.
The treatment of Tayfur, who was transferred from Muğla to Antalya on the evening of December 16, was continuing there.
