Disney+ at €2 per month: what is this improbable offer?

The Standard subscription with Disney+ ads costs 2 euros per month for one year. An offer never seen before, while Disney+ has left all Canal offers.

Disney+ is trying something at the start of the year: the best promotion ever seen. Instead of 5.99 euros per month, its cheapest SVoD subscription increases to 1.99 euros per month, for one year. Promotion begins this Friday, January 3.

Disney+ Standard with advertisements at 2 euros per month

It's as expensive as the Free package at 2 euros: the Standard subscription with advertising is 1.99 euros per month, for one year. Which means that for the year, the subscription is 23.88 euros, instead of the usual 71.88 euros.

As a reminder, this offer allows you to enjoy the entire Disney+ catalog in Dolby Audio 5.1 and in 1080p. However, there is advertising before and during content playback. Like Netflix or Prime Video, Disney+ offers an affordable offer, but which has this downside.

The promotion is available from Friday January 3 until January 21. The subscription can be taken out without commitment and the promotional rate is valid for 12 months. Disney+ has already been offered at 2 euros per month in the past, but it was only for one month: this is the first time that the platform has offered such an interesting offer.

Disney+ lost a lot of subscribers

Since January 1, Disney+ has started from Canal+ offers. Which means that to see the latest Disney films and series, you must subscribe to the SVoD platform. Thus, many subscribers to Disney+ via Canal+ have no longer had access to the service's content for two days. With this offer, Disney+ is trying to convince them to subscribe, at a very attractive price.

The problem is that with the departure of Canal+, the arrival of Disney films after their theatrical release is delayed. Through Canal+, Disney could offer them six months after their release. Now you have to wait 17 months. Which means that Mufasa : The Roi Lion should only be available on Disney+ in May 2026. To remedy this, Disney will have to convince public authorities to be more flexible on the media chronology, by investing in French creation.

The other problem is that in four years, Disney+ has doubled the price of its subscription. In 2020, it was 6.99 euros per month. Except that this offer (four screens, 4K HDR quality) has since been sold at 13.99 euros per month. Enough to drive subscribers away to other services. Here again, Disney+ wants to bring these customers back, at least for a year.

The trick to avoiding ads on Disney+ as much as possible

As noted Frandroidchildren's accounts (Junior mode) on Disney+ do not have advertisements. So if you want to watch films and series without advertisements, you can use a Junior account. Be careful, however: there is only content suitable for all audiences. Exit all Marvel and others Star Wars.

If you have young children, the Standard subscription with advertising for 2 euros is a great offer to start the year. The platform has many animated series for children and they will not have advertising.
