The head of the Strabag construction group, Klemens Haselsteiner, is dead. He died at the age of 44.
The Austrian construction group Strabag has announced the death of CEO Klemens Haselsteiner. The CEO, born in 1980, died “suddenly and unexpectedly” on Friday, the Viennese company announced in a mandatory announcement that evening.
“The other board members will temporarily take over the agendas for which Klemens Haselsteiner is responsible.” No further information was initially available. Klemens Haselsteiner has been a member of the board of directors since January 1, 2020 and chairman of the board of Strabag since January 1, 2023.
-Klemens Haselsteiner studied business administration at DePaul University in Chicago and also completed the renowned Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He began his professional career in 2004 at KPMG in Austria. After his community service and a professional position in a Russian industrial group, Haselsteiner joined the Strabag Group in Russia in 2011. There he worked, among other things, as a commercial project manager.
From 2015 he moved to the German Strabag subsidiary Ed. Züblin AG in Stuttgart. He initially worked as a commercial division manager in turnkey building construction before taking on the position of commercial division manager in 2018. Strabag is a multinational construction group based in Vienna. According to its own information, the company has 86,000 employees worldwide and recently achieved annual sales of a good 19 billion euros.
