The New Year’s baby 2025 will celebrate his birthday together with his brother
The first child in the city of Zurich was born in the city hospital shortly before 1 a.m. It wasn’t the family’s first New Year’s birth.

It took less than an hour in the new year for the city to have one more resident. At 12:57 a.m. a boy from a family living in Zurich was born in Triemli. It measures 52 centimeters and weighs 3950 grams.
According to the city hospital, his name was not yet determined after birth. However, the range of possible name candidates is given: According to the tradition of the family, which wishes to remain anonymous, newborns are named after ancestors.
The first of January will in future be a special holiday in the family for two reasons: five years ago, the mother gave birth to a boy on New Year’s Day, also in Triemli. Because the birth at that time only took place in the evening, there was not enough for the “title” of New Year’s baby in 2020. “Now we have a New Year’s baby in our family,” the mother was quoted as saying to the hospital.
Now the New Year’s baby 2025 happened thanks to a very speedy birth: mother and father arrived at the hospital at 10:30 p.m., and their third offspring was born almost two and a half hours later. “It was a beautiful, calm birth,” said the mother.
