Haute-Loire. An accident and in bed, abandoned cars… the little stories of New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve and during New Year's Eve, 590 vehicles and 639 people were checked by the departmental gendarmerie group. The military recorded nine cases of alcohol, eight of which were misdemeanors, as well as three cases of driving under the influence of drugs.

They also issued a fixed fine for possession of drugs and noted two insurance defects, as well as three violations of the Highway Code.

No license, drunk driver…

Beyond these road checks – 150 gendarmes and police officers mobilized on the side of the roads – New Year's Eve night was rather calm, by the gendarmes' own admission. Several interventions still took place at various points in the department, in the early morning of this 1is January.

At 5:15 a.m. in Pont-Salomon, an accident vehicle on rue des Acacias obstructed access to the leisure center parking lot. The person behind the wheel had informed their insurance company, which was unable to contact a repairer. Taken to the Saint-Didier-en-Velay brigade, this person indicated that they were not the owner of the vehicle. She had an alcohol level of 0.59 milligrams per liter of exhaled air, or nearly 1.2 g of alcohol per liter of blood, and did not hold a driving license.

Found at his grandfather's house

At 6:15 a.m. at the exit of Chadron, direction Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille, the soldiers found an accident vehicle in a ditch. When they arrived, several young people, apparently all from the community hall, were grouped around the car and were looking for the driver. After some investigations, he was found at his grandfather's house where he was sleeping peacefully. The grandfather in question declared that he had not thought of notifying the authorities.

At 7:50 a.m., the police were alerted for a new abandoned vehicle, this time in Saint-Pal-de-Mons. After leaving the road, this Renault Kangoo hit several traffic signs. At 9 a.m., when a patrol passed, he disappeared. The police were able to find the owner thanks to the registration number of the car which had been communicated to them. Met at his home, he told the soldiers that he was going to contact the town hall about the damage caused to public property.

Theft from a pharmacy

In the police zone, officials indicate that the night was also relatively calm. They do not report any urban violence in Puy-en-Velay and its surrounding area during the transition to the new year.

Our colleagues from Awakening reveal, however, that the Renaissance pharmacy, located on avenue des Champs-Élysées in Chadrac, was the victim of shoplifting during the afternoon of December 31.
