Several deaths and injuries have been reported in New where a vehicle hit the crowd, according to authorities

New Orleans struck by tragedy. As reported by local media, a vehicle drove into a crowd in the French Quarter of the city, Louisiana in the United States. According to the authorities, at least 10 dead and 30 injured have been reported.

“A vehicle drove into a large crowd at the corner of Canal and Bourbon Street. There were 30 injured who were transported by (emergency personnel) and 10 dead,” writes the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness to emergency situations in the city.

According to WGNOanother local media, the events occurred at 3:15 a.m. (local time), the police and emergency services are on site.

On this New Year's Eve, the crowd was particularly large in this city popular with tourists. A college football game was also being played in the Louisiana town, leading to an even greater influx of visitors.

At this stage, the authorities have not communicated on a hypothetical arrest of the driver, nor on whether it was a voluntary or accidental act.
