new car registrations fell by 3.2% in 2024

It is the Stellantis group which is seeing the biggest drop in new car registrations.

1,718,417 new passenger cars were registered in 2024, a decrease of 3.2%, announced the Automobile Platform (PFA) in a press release on Wednesday January 1, 2025.

The Stellantis group recorded the largest decline (-7%) with 452,900 new cars sold. With the brands Citroën, Fiat, Opel and Peugeot in particular, it represents more than a quarter of the French automobile market. For the Renault group (Dacia, Renault, Alpine), registrations fell by 2.7% in 2024 (425,116 passenger cars sold). The Toyota group sold 134,772 passenger cars (+18.6%).
