They found the dismembered body of a woman inside a box in Medellín

Residents of the Campo Valdez neighborhood, a sector known as “Barrio Chino”, in commune 4 in the northeast of Medellín, alerted the authorities of an abandoned box, inside a container, in which they found human remains inside.

The discovery was made by surveillance patrols who found the body on Carrera 48B and Calle 86, on a curve that is very close to the La Maquinita ravine.

“We received a call to line 123, reporting a lifeless body. The patrols moved to the Campo Valdez neighborhood, a sector known as Barrio Chino. A body was found inside a container, it was a woman,” said Colonel Javier Mauricio Castellanos, deputy commander of the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Police.

The body was transferred to Forensic Medicine, where the relevant examinations will be carried out to confirm the identity of the victim and clarify the causes of his death. “We have worked together to strengthen criminal investigation and police intelligence capabilities to clarify the motives and those responsible for the events,” added the Subcommander.

A similar case was recorded in June in the Las Granjas neighborhood, in Manrique. A 16-year-old boy showed up at the commune's police station and turned himself in after murdering a man with a knife. The young man confessed that he dismembered the body and threw it into different parts.

This year there have been 315 murders in Medellín, according to the Information System for Security and Coexistence. In Commune 4 Aranjuez, 14 violent deaths have been recorded, which represents a decrease of 15 cases compared to the same period of the previous year.
