Lucinda Brand won the evening cross in Diegem. Under the artificial lights, the Dutch champion had to tolerate Ceylin Alvarado at her side for a long time, but in the penultimate round she managed to distance herself.

No Puck Pieterse – the Dutchwoman failed to attend due to stomach problems – and so it promised to be a duel between Ceylin Alvarado and Lucinda Brand. Together with this duo, Inge Van der Heijden and Sanne Cant also had a good time.

After problems in the sand for Brand, Alvarado tried solo for the first time early on. She had a gap of five seconds, but Brand and Van der Heijden were able to catch up again a little later. Things went too fast for Cant in the second round. Our compatriot would eventually finish fifth.

In the following round, the other Crelan-Corendon rider, Van der Heijden, also had to drop out. We thus got the expected match between Alvarado and Brand. The Dutch champion wanted to get rid of Alvarado quickly, but the ex-world champion did not yield.

Later, after an acceleration problem at Brand, it was even Alvarado who gained a few meters, but she soon saw them disappear like snow in the sun after she entered the material station. At the beginning of the fifth round, Brand managed to open a gap. This time the Baloise Trek Lions rider was finally retired.
