Two motorcycle riders did not survive a pair of crashes that occurred in County on Sunday night and Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Sunday night incident occurred at 8:09 p.m. when an 18-year-old Orlando man riding on a 2008 Kawasaki ZZR600 was heading southbound on State Road 436 south of Oleander Drive, according to an FHP crash report.

A 2021 BMW 330I driven by 73-year-old Orlando woman began slowing in the outside lane because of traffic that was ahead. The motorcycle failed to slow and struck the rear of the BMW.

The rider was transported to AdventHealth East Orlando Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The BMW driver was not injured and remained on the scene.

The second fatal motorcycle accident occurred around 6:20 a.m. Monday in unincorporated Mount Dora in north Orange County north of Zellwood, according to an FHP preliminary report.

A 34-year-old Deltona man riding a 2017 Suzuki GSX-R750 was traveling westbound on Sadler Road approaching Laughlin Road.

A 53-year-old DeLand man driving a 2019 Ford E-450 truck heading the same direction several cars ahead of the motorcycle had stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Laughlin Road, the report said. The rider of the motorcycle began to pass stopped traffic that was behind the Ford, which began to make its left turn.

The front of the motorcycle then hit the left side of the Ford, FHP stated.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Ford was not injured and remained on the scene, FHP stated.

The crashes remain under investigation.
