Overjoyed Nsimba gives Dender a nice dessert after a wonderful year: “Special to score the winning goal here”

A victory in the Lotto Park, Dender could not have imagined a better Christmas present. The PhD student fearlessly took on the battle against Anderlecht and was rewarded for persevering with a surprising victory. “We kept fighting and deservedly got the three points here.”

With a wall-to-wall smile, match winner Bruny Nsimba told the story of his late winning goal afterwards. “I recover the ball a little before the halfway line, there was no good communication at Anderlecht and I estimated it correctly.”

“I walked to the goal alone, cut it and put the ball in the far corner. I felt a lot of joy and relief for the team. Finally scored again, because it had been a while. It’s great that it happened this way. “

The turnaround was so complete, Dender still fought his way to a three-pointer from a 2-1 deficit. Not surprising at all, Nsimba, who was only allowed to come on halfway through the second half.

“I was confident today that I could bring it to a successful conclusion and I did it. It is special to score the winning goal here.”

“It’s a reward, because we started the match well. It’s a shame that we gave away those goals a little too easily. We kept fighting and deservedly took home the three points.”

The year in which Dender obtained his PhD thus has a particularly beautiful final chord. “I think we can be satisfied with what we have already achieved. Now we have a few days of rest and then we have to turn the switch again. Everyone keeps getting points, it is up to us to do better than the rest.”

Vincent Euvrard saw how his plan worked out perfectly. The Dender coach had instructed his team to put a lot of pressure on Anderlecht and that approach resulted in three points.

Euvrard was especially happy that Nsimba made the difference. “He deserves a big compliment,” said rights holder DAZN. “He had a hard time at the beginning of his substitute appearance with a missed opportunity and some incorrectly played balls. But he stayed in the match and his goal was of great class.”

“He was on the bench for a few weeks and had a more difficult period, but he always continued to work hard in training and continued to fight for the team. Then you see that luck is on your side.”

The competition has certainly not yet run, but this gives hope and confidence for the future.

Despite the 9 out of 12 to end 2024, Euvrard remains sober. “Now we have to take some well-deserved rest and recharge our batteries. We realize that there are still 10 matches to come and that the competition is certainly not over yet. But this should give confidence and hope for the future.”
