6 a.m. news – Bayrou government: between Emmanuel Macron and Gabriel Attal, the rag is on fire

The new government of François Bayrou has just spent its first week in office. Gabriel Attal would have liked to be there, or at least to see relatives settling there. But neither he nor any member of his entourage is part of it, although these options were in the pipeline. Relations between Emmanuel Macron and the president of the Macronist party have become strained.

A relative of Gabriel Attal even denounces “a relentlessness” from the head of state. The latter would have, according to a loyalist of the former Prime Minister, crossed out at the last minute all the names suggested by Gabriel Attal to François Bayrou when putting together his team. This version was nevertheless denied by the Élysée, which swears that the President of the Republic did not interfere in the composition of the government.

The war between Emmanuel Macron and Gabriel Attal is relaunched. This conflict is fueled by supposed acerbic confidences from relatives of the former tenant of Matignon in the press against a backdrop of post-dissolution resentment. “It's good for him.”scathes someone close to the head of state. Gabriel Attal, who became boss of the Renaissance party, was however privately delighted, less than a month ago, to see his contacts re-established with Emmanuel Macron. But obviously, between them, the Christmas truce will not last long.
