The famous actor, Mohamed Al-Khalfi, died this morning, at the age of 86, after months of suffering from illness.
The late Mohamed El Khalfi, one of the pioneers of the first generation of Moroccan theatre, was born in Casablanca in 1937. He played various roles on stage and participated in many artistic and theatrical meetings and performances.
Thanks to his distinguished style and sincere performance, the deceased won the love of the audience, who came to know him well, especially through the role of the commiser or policeman that he played in a group of his works, where he tries through this role to control and take control of matters in a comedic way.
Muhammad Al-Khalafi’s first encounter with theater dates back to the year 1957 in the amateur theater with Al-Tayeb Al-Siddiqi, Ahmed Al-Tayeb Al-Alaj and others, and after that he began his professional path with well-known names in the theatrical field.
In 1959, Muhammad Al-Khalfi founded the “Popular Theater” troupe, then the “United Artists” troupe, which presented seven plays, the first of which was the play “The Cultured Family,” in which the artist Soraya Gibran played the starring role.
Al-Khalfi was also one of the first to join television since its first launch in Morocco in the early 1960s, where he presented the first police television series titled “The Sacrifice,” followed by the series “The Bread Seller.”
Among the works in which Muhammad Al-Khalfi participated: the film “Silence, a Forbidden Direction” by director Abdullah Al-Mesbahi, and the film “Here and Lahi” by director Muhammad Ismail, in addition to his participation in the historical series “Kings of the Sects,” and of course viewers still remember him as a member of the Benzizi family.
