A 38-year-old man sentenced to five years in prison for drug trafficking in has just been extradited from Dubai, a rare procedure, the Paris prosecutor announced in a press release on Friday December 20. This man fled in 2020, taking advantage of the help of border police agents (PAF) at airport, adds the Paris prosecutor's office requested by franceinfo. They had illegally accessed files for him so that he could disappear before investigators arrived.

“France obtained the surrender by the United Arab Emirates” of this man, Ramzy A., indicates the Paris prosecutor. He was sentenced in June 2023 for “repeat drug trafficking, committed in 2020. The sentence was accompanied by an arrest warrant, disseminated internationally”specifies the Paris prosecutor in her press release. As he opposed his conviction by default, he will be retried for these facts at the Paris criminal court on January 29.

The prosecution adds that Ramzy A. supplied a cocaine network through a digital platform. Investigators from the 2nd district of the Paris judicial police (2nd DPJ) became interested in him after benefiting from anonymous information. Investigators were able to see him make 21 round trips in eight days with filled bags to supply the network. Investigations showed that the cocaine was designated as “caroline”or “champagne” and MDMA “McDo”with daily deliveries in Paris and nearby suburbs.

The traffic turnover is estimated by the Paris prosecutor's office at 1.8 million euros. Telephone investigations carried out by investigators showed that 16,000 communications were made by this network, for 700 contacts between November 2019 and March 2020. With massive sending of SMS in the form of advertising operations intended for customers.

The Paris public prosecutor's office explains that the extradition of Ramzy A. was made possible after the arrival in the United Arab Emirates of a delegation of magistrates from the Paris public prosecutor's office and the national financial prosecutor's office (PNF). “The Paris prosecutor's office welcomes this successful extradition”we can read in the press release. Many drug traffickers are on the run in Dubai, some arrested by the police, but extradition procedures from this country remain very rare.
