Sony is sinking its teeth into its comedy reboot of Anaconda.
The studio announced Friday that filmmaker Tom Gormican’s reimagining of the 1997 snake-focused horror movie will hit theaters just in time for the holidays on Dec. 25, 2025. Paul Rudd and Jack Black star in the new feature from Columbia Pictures.
Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) helms the film from a script he co-wrote with Kevin Etten. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produce for Fully Formed.
In the video below, Rudd and Black tease the new project. “There’s gonna be a big fucking snake, and it’s gonna rip,” Black says of the film.
Adds Rudd, “You want to get scared? You want to laugh? You want to celebrate with your friends? Or maybe you’re alone and sad and have nobody, but just want to forget about that?”
The Hollywood Reporter reported in August that the film was in development. Plot details are being kept in the belly of a snake.
