Eintracht Frankfurt – 1. FSV Mainz 05 (Saturday, 3:30 p.m./Sky)
Situation: Eintracht has not won four competitive games in a row. Mainz is bursting with self-confidence after the coup against FC Bayern.
Statistics: Eintracht is still unbeaten at home this season. The last home defeat against Mainz was four and a half years ago. The overall balance (16:10 wins) also speaks for Frankfurt.
Personal: Frankfurt defender Tuta (calf) is missing again. Mainz will have to do without their injured striker Burkardt.
Special: The ex-Frankfurt Kohr has already seen yellow 15 times for Mainz in the 2024 calendar year, equaling Carsten Ramelow's record from 2001. With another warning he would be an inglorious frontrunner.
Eintracht Frankfurt: Trapp – Kristensen, Koch, Theate, Brown – Skhiri, Larsson – Knauff, Uzun – Marmoush, Ekitiké
1. FSV Mainz 05: Zentner – Jenz, Bell, Kohr – Caci, Sano, Amiri, Mwene – Nebel, Lee – Sieb
TSG Hoffenheim – Borussia Mönchengladbach (Saturday, 3:30 p.m./Sky)
Situation: Hoffenheim is encouraged by the 1-1 draw in Dortmund. Gladbach has self-confidence after four points from two games and wants to stay in contact with the European Cup places.
Statistics: After the furious debut win against Leipzig, the new TSG coach Ilzer has remained winless in six games across all competitions. Gladbach has lost three of five away games so far.
Personal: Hoffenheim is still missing the long-term injured Kabak, Prömel and Bülter, as well as the talented striker Moerstedt at short notice. For the guests, Weigl returns after a yellow card suspension, Ngoumou is the only one out.
Special: In the 32 league games between the two teams so far, a total of 117 goals have been scored – more than against any other TSG opponent.
TSG Hoffenheim: Baumann – Gendrey, Arthur Chaves, Akpoguma, Prass – Stach, Samassekou – Bischof, Hlozek, Kramaric – Berisha
Borussia Mönchengladbach: Nicolas – Scally, Itakura, Elvedi, Ullrich – Reitz, Weigl – Honorat, Plea, Hack – Kleindienst
Holstein Kiel – FC Augsburg (Saturday, 3:30 p.m./Sky)
Situation: The North Germans, who are threatened with relegation, could significantly shorten the gap to relegation place with a win. After two recent games without a win against the top teams Frankfurt and Leverkusen, FCA wants to expand its cushion on the relegation zone before the turn of the year.
Statistics: So far there has only been one competitive game in the history of both teams. In 2019, the Augsburg team won 1-0 against the then second-tier Kiel team in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup.
Personal: Kiel will still have to do without its regulars Erras and Becker on defense. Augsburg's captain Gouweleeuw is missing due to a yellow card suspension.
Special: Kiel have lost their last five Bundesliga games.
Holstein Kiel: Weiner – Rosenboom, Ivezic, Geschwill – Knudsen, Remberg, Porath – Holtby, Gigovic – Harres, Bernhardsson
FC Augsburg: Labrovic – Matsima, Bauer, Schlotterbeck – Wolf, Jakic, Giannoulis – Onyeka, Claude-Maurice – Essende, Tietz
VfB Stuttgart – FC St. Pauli (Saturday, 3:30 p.m./Sky)
Situation: Stuttgart wants to consolidate its place in the top third of the table and St. Pauli wants to avoid falling into the relegation zone.
Statistics: VfB recently won four competitive games in a row, the guests lost four of their last five Bundesliga games.
Personal: The hosts continue to play without Undav and Leweling, and captain Karazor is probably also missing. In addition to eight long-term injuries, defense chief Smith could also be out for the opponent.
Special: St. Pauli's coach Blessin was born in Stuttgart and played for both VfB and the Stuttgarter Kickers. He and VfB coach Hoeneß know each other well – including from their time in the youth team at RB Leipzig.
VfB Stuttgart: Nübel – Vagnoman, Rouault, Chabot, Mittelstädt – Keitel, Stiller – Millot, Woltemade, Führich – Demirović
FC St. Paul: Vasilj – Wahl, Smith, Nemeth – Saliakas, Irvine, Boukhalfa, Treu – Guilavogui, Eggestein, Afolayan
Werder Bremen – 1. FC Union Berlin (Saturday, 3:30 p.m./Sky)
Situation: Bremen, who have had a good first half of the season, are currently ninth in the table with 22 points – and are in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup. The twelfth-placed team from Berlin has been waiting for a win for seven Bundesliga games and suffered four defeats in the games.
Statistics: Union prevailed against Werder in six of the last seven league duels.
Personal: Bittencourt is out due to adductor problems. Attacker Ducksch is available again. Berlin's defense chief Vogt is suspended after his fifth yellow card.
Special: For the Berliners it is the first game after a fan threw a lighter at home against Bochum. Union is therefore threatened with an unpleasant sporting penalty from the DFB sports court.
Werder Bremen: Zetterer – Stark, Friedl, Jung – Weiser, Stage, Lynen, Köhn – Grüll, Schmid – Ducksch
1. FC Union Berlin: Rönnow – Querfeld, Doekhi, Leite – Trimmel, Schäfer, Khedira, Rothe – Vertessen, Hollerbach – Skarke
Bayer 04 Leverkusen – SC Freiburg (Saturday, 6.30 p.m./Sky)
Situation: Leverkusen wants to remain Bayern's number one hunter over Christmas, and Freiburg wants to at least consolidate fifth place.
Statistics: The last seven games have been very close, ending either in a draw or with the winner only one goal ahead. The last clear win so far (4-0 for Bayer) came in 2017.
Personal: Bayer striker Schick could return to the starting line-up after injury. The Freiburgers can compete in the Rhineland with the best line-up.
Special: In the home win (2-1) against Freiburg last season, Wirtz scored the goal of the year 2023.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen: Hradecky – Mukiele, Tah, Tapsoba, Hincapie – Xhaka, Palacios – Frimpong, Wirtz, Grimaldo – Tella
SC Freiburg: Atubolu – Kübler, Ginter, Lienhart, Günter – Eggestein, Osterhage – Dōan, Röhl, Grifo – Höler
VfL Bochum 1848 – 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 (Sunday, 3:30 p.m./Dazn)
Situation: Both teams are deep in the relegation battle, Heidenheim (10 points) has been without a win in the league since the end of September, and Bochum hasn't won at all yet.
Statistics: FCH has won more often away from home than at home in the league. Bochum has not lost the last seven duels with Heidenheim.
Personal: Despite the lighter scandal last matchday, Drewes will be back in the Bochum goal. Miyoshi is missing after his red card in Berlin. Heidenheim deliberately left Maloney out of the squad. Gimber is yellow-locked.
Special: With Conteh (36.82 km/h) and Holtmann (36.74 km/h), the two fastest Bundesliga players meet. Conteh plays on the right side in Heidenheim, Holtmann plays on the left side for the opponent.
VfL Bochum 1848: Drewes – Oermann, Medic, Bernardo – Passlack, Wittek – Sissoko, Losilla – de Witt, Bero – Hofmann
1. FC Heidenheim 1846: Müller – Traoré, Mainka, Siersleben, Theuerkauf – Schöppner, Dorsch – Scienza, Wanner, Honsak – Pieringer
VfL Wolfsburg – Borussia Dortmund (Sunday, 5:30 p.m./Dazn)
Situation: In the worst case scenario, Dortmund faces a Christmas in eleventh place in the table. The unrest at BVB is once again great.
Statistics: In October, VfL knocked BVB out of the DFB Cup. Before that, there had only been one Wolfsburg win against Dortmund since the 2015 DFB Cup final.
Personal: Brandt and Anton return to Dortmund. The big question at VfL is: Can the successful Joker Wind finally play from the start again?
Special: Before the season, Salih Özcan fled from Dortmund's bench to Wolfsburg. But the Turkish European Championship player hardly gets a chance there either.
VfL Wolfsburg: Grabara – Fischer, Vavro, Koulierakis, Maehle – Svanberg, Arnold – Baku, Wind, Tiago Tomas – Amoura
Borussia Dortmund: Kobel – Groß, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini – Sabitzer, F. Nmecha – Adeyemi, Brandt, Gittens – Guirassy
