On immigration According to a statement, the Federal Council has achieved its goals. The previous one Safeguard clause in the area of immigration is specified. This will clearly define the conditions under which Switzerland can set limits on immigration – and how the mechanism works. Parliament will be able to specify in a law more precisely when this protective clause is triggered. In return for these concessions, Switzerland undertakes to Students from EU countries to be treated the same as Swiss students at publicly funded universities and technical colleges.

There is also one exception during deportations: Switzerland is not adopting any new EU regulations in this area. Also in social assistance There is a special regulation: only people who are employed receive a right of permanent residence in Switzerland after five years.

Wage protection: Switzerland and the EU rely on the principle of “equal pay for equal work”. In Switzerland, trade unions and employers will continue to monitor, together with the cantons, whether wage and working conditions are being adhered to. There are several exceptions for Switzerland. This includes one Pre-registration deadline. Previously it was eight days, now it is four days. If a company has violated the rules, it must continue to have one Deposit pay before he can carry out a new order.

In general, one now applies dynamic legal takeover: In principle, Switzerland is obliged to adopt new EU regulations in those areas where it has concluded treaties. However, it can still decide for itself – in the case of referendums, also through referendums. If it does not adopt further developments, the EU can take punitive measures.

However, there are also exceptions to dynamic legal adoption, particularly when it comes to wage protection. There the so-called «Non-Regression-Klausel». This means: If the EU worsens wage protection, Switzerland does not have to adopt these conditions.

Switzerland will have one in the future Cohesion contribution of 350 million francs per year to the EU. This applies to the period 2030-2036.
