“You deserve the Nobel Prize.” Clouseau did not hesitate at the start of the first of what will eventually become a series of 13 Sports Palaces. “We are Clouseau, we are so happy to be home again!” It won't be yet!
Clouseau kicked off his first of thirteen birthday shows on Friday evening in a sold-out Antwerp Sportpaleis. For three hours, the group, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, plays more than thirty of its hits.
The long catwalk in the center square was already ready, but the main stage was initially hidden behind a gigantic canvas. When Clouseau celebrates his fortieth birthday, they do so in grand style. With a countdown clock, with archive images of Koen, Kris and their musicians, with an overview of all album covers. But the cheering sounds loudest when Koen and Kris Wauters emerge from the catwalk together and the LEDs switch on. The curtain falls to reveal a gigantic stage surrounded by LED lights. A podium of the highest class. That can compete with an international level. (Read more below the photo)
And then they put Nobel Prize in. The decibels immediately went up. “We are Clouseau and we are celebrating our fortieth anniversary. And we are happy to be home again!” On which they performed a medley with Swentibold to stake. “It will be a long evening, with many songs.” As if anyone in the 15,000-strong audience would mind. Then we'll dance, it sounds Dancing! Well then! The legs are ready.
