BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Clouds stuck around all day today, keeping temperatures on the cooler side. Highs tomorrow may get a touch warmer in the lowlands, but a quick-moving system will usher in much colder temperatures for the weekend. This system will also bring us some wintry weather. Snow showers will populate the higher elevations early Friday morning, so folks in Preston, Tucker, Randolph, and Pocahontas Counties should expect a slight impact to the morning commute. Precipitation will become more widespread across the lowlands in the afternoon, likely beginning as rain with a few pockets of freezing rain, or rain/snow mix. The entire area should prepare for a slick evening commute. As temperatures drop past sunset, precip will transition to snow. Snow will gradually taper off overnight in the lowlands, but linger through Saturday morning in the mountains before finishing up. Accumulations will remain under an inch in the lowlands, western slopes could see 1 to 3 inches, and highest elevations in Randolph and Webster Counties could see as much as 4 to 5 inches. Saturday and Sunday temperatures will be below freezing, with lows in the teens and single digits Sunday and Monday mornings. We will stay dry after the snow and into the start of next week, and temperatures will return to the 40s on Monday. Precipitation is looking very possible for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but with temperatures in the 40s/low 50s, it won’t be the type of precipitation to give us a white Christmas.
