Bruno Lage assumes that there is still a lot of room for improvement for Benfica, after the 2-0 victory over Nacional da Madeira, in the resumption of the delayed game of the eighth round of the championship, this Thursday.
Speaking to Sport TV, at the end of the match, Lage was happy with a “very important victory, on a very difficult, and indisputable field”.
“The team managed to respond, they controlled the game with the ball. We are very satisfied, but we have to continue evolving. This team has a lot of room to continue evolving”, highlighted the red-black coach.
Benfica overtook FC Porto in second place, with one point more, and was one point behind leader Sporting, two rounds away from the Alvalade classic.
Game analysis: “A very important victory, on a very difficult, and indisputable field. Nacional did well, but for what we did, for the opportunities we created, we could have scored more goals. A performance with many opportunities, with goals, which is what we we want.”
Good reaction to the draw with AVS: “I wouldn’t call it a reaction. Because a reaction is leaving a negative moment to reach a positive moment. This is the result of our work. There are still many moments in the game that we have to grow. We’ve only been with this team for three months.”
Benfica closer to what you want? “It’s the approach, every moment, every game, every training session. The team managed to respond, they controlled the game with the ball. We are very satisfied, but we have to keep evolving. This team has a lot of room to keep evolving.”
